TODAY AT 4:00 PM: We Cement Our Movement on the Ballot!

We plan to officially submit over 3,000 signatures. These represent residents across all eight Wards, in every neighborhood, and across all races who agree on a single message: We must invest more in training our youth and preparing them for success. At the same time, we can no longer allow them to get away with murder.
 

Our message as I collected signatures was clear: My son's classmate, Brady Flowers II, was shot and killed nearly 13 weeks ago, and there has been zero arrests. D.C. spends pennies on after-school programs, athletics, and summer jobs to keep our youth engaged and off the streets. When youth get into trouble, elites on the D.C. Council calling themselves socialists refuse to do the hard work to hold them accountable.

 

In Brady’s case, the teenagers involved pistol-whipped, robbed, and shot him dead—yet walked right back into Jackson-Reed High School the next morning without discipline. Instead of being reprimanded for failing to suspend or expel suspected killers, the school principal was promoted to Deputy to the Chancellor.

I am an engineer, lawyer, and father who's fed up with our youth killing each other. My administration plans to train our youth directly in high-paying vocational trades—including plumbing, welding, carpentry, road work, culinary arts, and hospitality management. Yet, when youth make mistakes, we must hold them accountable. Our current system fails our youth, victims, and our entire community.
